Employee Engagement

Responsibility Matters

Our objective is to engage and equip all P&Gers to build sustainability thinking and practices into their everyday work. We are driving efforts to make sustainability top-of-mind for all P&G employees, keeping personal responsibility relevant both at work and at home.

At P&G, employees often leave a meeting offering to “take the R” (responsibility) for a next step or action item. Borrowing from this Company vernacular, we frame our engagement efforts around the “Take the R for Tomorrow” program.

Facilities

Jones Lang LaSalle, P&G’s property management partner at offices and technical centers, has teams at each location responsible for energy, water and waste reductions. Through this partnership, we have implemented ongoing efforts aimed at educating employees and influencing more sustainable workplace behaviors. In addition, sustainability criteria are part of any future space assessment to ensure new locations meet strict environmental standards.

Here are a few examples of programs:

  • Building market infrastructure for composting in Cincinnati General Offices and 6 technical centers
  • Lighting upgrades at the P&G Mexico GO that will save 245,000 KWh (or enough power for 16 average homes for a year)
  • Central HVAC and Building Management System replacement project in the Kobe Technical Center is estimated to deliver 30% energy reduction.
  • Landscape watering system redesign collects rainwater or irrigation in Buenos Aires saving an estimated 340,000 liters of water a year.
  • Caracas reuses materials from an out-of-service dust collector system for the facility and re-purposes the tubes for a generator exhaust.
  • North America furniture reuse, donation and sorting for scrap materials keeps old furniture from the landfill.

Managed Print Services

For the past year, P&G’s Global Business Services has been working with Xerox to simplify our global printing structure, bringing to life a network of more reliable, better-serviced and more capable printers. Today we can print anywhere in the P&G print world, scan to email, print two-sided, eliminate the cover pages, and use smart color. In just one year, P&G has printed 11 million fewer pages, and that number is expected to grow considerably.
